Annual Scientific Meeting 2009

The next SA & NT Combined ANZCA/ASA Annual Scientific Meeting "Keeping it above the Clavicle" was held on Saturday 1 November 2008 at the Sebel Playford Hotel in Adelaide.  Professor Paul Myles - Director, Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and Dr Chris Acott - Senior Staff Specialist, Pain Medicine and Hyperbaric Medicine at the Royal Adelaide Hospitals were the invited Speakers.

The 25th Australian Short Course on Intensive Care Medicine (Tub’s Course)

A course on Intensive Care Medicine will be held on 25-27 February, 2009. The course will be held at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Royal Adelaide Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre in South Australia.  The course is specifically aimed at trainees sitting for the JFICM Fellowship Examination. It is strictly limited to those planning to sit the exam in 2009.

The course will be divided into 2 concurrent sections:
1.   Two day course – this will include tutorials and sessions on the written examination, vivas and hot cases. Cost: $600
2.   Three day course – this will include all of the two day course sessions as well as full mock vivas and hot case sessions. Cost: $900

Positions on the course are strictly limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis after 20 October, 2008 (NB: applications for the course will not be accepted before 21 October). A significant degree of exam preparation by candidates is assumed prior to attending the course. In particular candidates will only be considered for the 3 day course if they have already begun preparation for the clinical exam. This must be attested to by the candidate’s Supervisor of Training (SOT) before the candidate’s nomination for the 3 day course will be registered. Please note that, once registered, cancellations or other changes in registration for the course will not be accepted after January, 2009.
